Operations Leadership Program - Teams

A key aspect of your rotational experience within the Operations Leadership Program is to participate as a member of one of three program enhancement teams - Communications, Job Transition or Best Practices. You will work with your peers as well as with experienced UTC professionals with a deep operations background. Your project team experience will provide you an excellent opportunity to hone your leadership, analytical, and teamwork skills. Plus, the work of your teams can go a long way in improving the OLP program and make a contribution to overall UTC operational excellence.

ACE Team

This team drives continuous improvement of the OLP and overall program through the implementation of ACE tools resulting in increased customer satisfaction. This team ensures that the UTC ACE 11.4 criteria is applied to the OLP and advancement through the various ACE levels. Gold status for the OLP is scheduled to be reached by the end of Q4 2008. Tasks include:

  • Track significant metrics on control tower to demonstrate program performance.
  • Improve maturity and alignment of critical-to-quality processes with customer requirements within overall value stream.
  • Drive closed loop QCPC process with robust RRCA to eliminate and prevent recurring turnbacks and escapes.
  • Collect, evaluate and address (RRCA) internal and external customer MFA.

Best Practices Team

This team compiles best practices from internal and external employee development programs and creates both on and off line processes to share tools, resources and lessons learned from the rotation assignments. Tasks include:

  • Benchmarking other programs through the extensive use market feedback analysis.
  • Development of case studies for learning and development.
  • Quarterly meetings designed to share best in class processes.
  • Gathering and disseminating information that will help improve the OLP program.

Career Development Team

This team provides OLP associates with the opportunity to develop their career through several venues. Tasks include:

  • Job shadowing events to highlight rotation assignments and potential final placement opportunities within various UTC divisions.
  • Conduct Executive interviews and distribute transcript to OLP associates.
  • Help facilitate and benchmark final placement process.
  • Promote career development tools and recommend improvements to the Individual Development Process.

Communications Team

This team will develop tools and strategies to enhance the internal and external communication among key stakeholders of the UTC Operations Leadership Program. The OLP stakeholders include the UTC Operations Council, potential recruits, target Colleges and Universities and all UTC business units. Primary tasks for the team shall include:

  • Development and maintenance of the OLP internal and external web sites.
  • Coordination of team building and social events.
  • Publication of a quarterly newsletter for OLP associates.
  • Assistance in the OLP recruitment process.

Job Transition Team

This team helps create standard work to enable the seamless transition of associates from one job rotation to the next. The team also provides associates with the knowledge and tools they need to excel in their assignments. Tasks include: /p>

  • Collaborating with CSC Security representatives at each business unit on LDAP transfers and email creation for rotating associates.
  • Identifying and implementing best practices and standard work for issues such as computer access, training and job preparation.
  • Gathering and analyzing feedback from associates and managers.
  • Scheduling the transition.

Recruitment Team

This team develops and organizes information sessions and forums to formally introduce internal and external audiences to UTC, specifically the Operations Leadership Program (OLP). The designed sessions communicate the expectations, qualifications, opportunities, benefits, assignments and experiences of the Operations Leadership Program to internal and external audiences, including potential recruits and the businesses where they work or the colleges and universities where they are studying. Tasks include:

  • Organizing Fall Recruitment trips, including participants and logistics.
  • Creating and coordinating recruiting opportunities for internal and summer hire candidates.
  • Planning and conducting tours and information sessions for Super Day activities, which are designed to give potential applicants the opportunity to hear from OLP associates in a small group environment while touring UTC facilities.
