Operations Leadership Program - Overview

Meet some of our current associates (click on their picture to learn more).

"Operations" encompasses the core activities that make UTC a global leader in the industries in which we compete. Today, one of the most important undertakings at UTC is to take these activities and the talents of the people who perform them to the next level. We call it Operations Transformation. The goal is to help UTC maintain such a clear competitive edge that customers would be hard-pressed to do business with anyone else. Operations excellence is critical to UTC's success, and as an Operations Leader, you have a unique opportunity to be where the action is, at the heart of an endeavor that is one of UTC's highest priorities. The OLP program offers unique training and development opportunities to recent college and university graduates as well as UTC employees and focuses on career development while improving operations across UTC.

What we're looking for

We're seeking talented, highly motivated people who collectively bring a broad range of business skills, talents, experience and expertise, including:

  • A bachelors, MBA or MS degree in operations-related fields such as engineering, logistics or supply chain management.
  • Meaningful business experience with a track record of success.
  • Strong leadership, communication and analytical skills.
  • Desire for personal and professional development.
  • Lean manufacturing capabilities.

What you will do

  • Spend the next two years — divided into three eight-month rotations - honing your operational and management skills by learning about and working on the three primary functional areas of Operations: Manufacturing, Quality and Supply Management.
  • Work at three of UTC's seven dynamic global business units: Carrier, Hamilton Sundstrand, Otis Elevator, Pratt & Whitney, Sikorsky Aircraft, UTC Fire & Security, or UTC Power — as well as UTC's Corporate Headquarters.
  • Work with fellow OLP associates and UTC Operations Transformation leaders on program enhancement teams in such disciplines as best practices, communications and job transition.

What you will learn

  • The core concepts of Lean Manufacturing and how to apply them to improve operations.
  • The breadth and depth of UTC's products and services.
  • How each UTC business unit works, competes and succeeds.

How you will benefit

  • An opportunity to launch a rewarding and meaningful career that best matches your skills and talents with the needs of UTC and its business units.
  • An opportunity to advance in an organization that constantly seeks the best talent and will do whatever it takes to develop and retain that talent.
  • Challenging assignments across a broad range of business, functions, and locations around the world.
  • Exposure and visibility to UTC business leaders.
  • An opportunity to build a network of fellow professionals throughout UTC.
  • Unparalleled hands-on experience.
  • Eligibility for company-paid college and post-graduate education.
