The Information Technology Leadership Program (ITLP) is a rotational program to recruit and equip high-potential graduates by training them in different aspects of the business from an IT perspective. The ITLP associate is a premier entry-level position in UTC's IT group and involves three nine-month rotations across IT functions in different business units. The program combines on-the-job and facilitated training opportunities. UTC works with each associate who completes the ITLP to find job placement within the corporation.
What are the minimum requirements to apply for the ITLP? Potential associates should meet the following requirements:
How do I apply? The application process is conducted online, as well as through various college career fairs. To apply online, click here. You will be directed to the online application form. Enter all the required fields and attach your resume. Your application will be reviewed and, if your experience meets UTC requirements, you will be contacted for further consideration. When will I be contacted for an interview? The ITLP recruitment committee reviews potential candidates around the fourth quarter of each year. Because of the high volume of responses we receive, notifications can occur anywhere between one to two months after your application has been submitted. Can I choose the UTC business units I want to work for? The ITLP committee would like to ensure that participants receive a chance to work with their preferred business units. Participants will identify what IT areas and what business units in which they want to work. The business units will identify projects and areas where assignments exist. The manager of the program will then match the preference of the individual with the available positions, trying to give the participant her or his first choice. However, it cannot be guaranteed that you will work with all your desired business units. How long are the rotations? Approximately nine months. What type of work experience will I gain? Your work experience is highly dependent on the business units you work for. However, your basic experience may include such areas as project management, business analysis, architecture and standards; decision making, contract management, application development and security. Will I relocate while in the program? Are moving expenses covered? While the participating business units are almost all headquartered in the Greater Hartford area of Connecticut, there are various business unit branches located across North America. You may be required to relocate while in the program, and moving expenses will be covered. Is there an opportunity for an international assignment during ITLP? At this time, no such opportunity is available. What are the benefits of joining this program? See the benefits section for details. Can I change my rotation assignment? Under extenuating circumstances it is possible to change the project to which you have been assigned, but the program is not designed to move participants prematurely from their assignments. What happens to ITLP associates upon completion of the program?
Rotation assignments and final job placements will depend on associate performance and available positions. UTC will make every effort to place all associates who successfully complete the ITLP.
